So, you’ve come across the name of Jesus. Maybe it popped up in a funny meme online, or perhaps your grandma brings Him up during every holiday gathering, sharing stories that have been passed down through generations. You might also be feeling a spark of curiosity about the profound faith that is Christianity. Who is Jesus? What does the bible say about him? Whatever your reason for being here, we warmly welcome you!

I’m excited to share some key concepts to help you get started! I’ll also provide some tips on how to continue your wonderful journey with the Lord. Let’s dive in together!

Who is Jesus?

 What is the Bible, Anyway?

Think of the Bible as a library consisting of 66 books, written by around 40 authors over a span of 1,500 years. Despite this diversity, it all conveys a single message: God’s love for us and His plan to save us.

In the Old Testament, you’ll find the story of creation, the history of Israel, laws, prophecies, and the promises of a coming Savior.

The New Testament introduces Jesus, His life, death, resurrection, and the beginning of the church.

I recommend the King James Version (KJV)—it’s a classic, poetic, and widely trusted translation. It may take a little time to get used to the old-fashioned language, like “thee” and “thou,” but it’s definitely worth it.

Here’s one I recommend!

Who is Jesus?

Jesus is more than just a kind teacher or a historical figure. He is:

– The Son of God (John 3:16 — “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son…”)

– God in the flesh (John 1:14 — “And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us…”)

– The Savior of the world (Matthew 1:21 — “…for He shall save His people from their sins.”)

He lived a perfect life, teaching about love and truth, performing miracles, and, most importantly, He willingly gave His life for us.

The Crucifixion (and Why It Matters)

Humanity had (and still has) a sin problem. Romans 3:23 says: “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” That means every single one of us has made a mistake.

Sin separates us from God, and the penalty is death (Romans 6:23). But Jesus stepped in.

He was crucified—nailed to a cross—though He was innocent. He paid the penalty for our sins, taking the punishment we deserved.

And the best part? He didn’t stay dead. Three days later, He rose again (Luke 24:6 — “He is not here, but is risen…”).

That’s why Christians get excited about Easter. It’s not about chocolate bunnies (though those are nice). It’s about a Savior who conquered death.

How Do You Get Saved?

Here’s the core message:

Acknowledge you’re a sinner (Romans 3:23).

Believe Jesus died and rose for you (Romans 10:9 — “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”).

Call on Him (Romans 10:13 — “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”).

REPENT! Jesus made this sacrifice for us so our sins would be covered, yes, but that doesn’t mean we should abuse that. We turn from our sins. When we fall into temptation, we ask for forgiveness and try again.

Acts 3:19 (KJV):
“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.”

Isaiah 55:7 (KJV):
“Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.”

Proverbs 28:13 (KJV):
“He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.”

How to Pray (Even If You’re Awkward About It)

Prayer doesn’t have to be fancy. It’s just talking to God. You can pray like this:

  • Thank Him for who He is.
  • Confess your sins honestly.
  • Ask for help and guidance.
  • Praise Him for what He’s done.

Example: “Lord, I know I’ve messed up, but I believe You sent Jesus to die for me. Please forgive me, save me, and help me follow You.”

Final Word

If you’ve made it this far, yay! That’s a lot to take in, but it’s the most important truth you’ll ever hear: Jesus loves you, died for you, and wants a relationship with you.

Christianity isn’t about being perfect. It’s about following the One who is perfect. So take a step, even if it feels small. Open the Bible. Whisper a prayer. Ask questions.

Because at the end of the day, Jesus isn’t just a figure in history. He’s alive, and He’s ready to meet you right where you are.

A Simple Prayer to Be Saved

If you’re ready to accept Jesus, you can pray something like this (out loud or silently. it still counts):

“Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner. I believe You died on the cross for my sins and rose again on the third day. Please forgive me, come into my heart, and be my Savior. I give my life to You. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Remember—it’s not the exact words that save you. It’s the faith in your heart and calling on Him that matters (Romans 10:13).
